Northern Kentucky University Norse softball was eliminated from the NCAA Knoxville Regional after a loss to Indiana on May 16. The team had entered the elimination game following a defeat by Tennessee in their previous matchup.

The outcome ends Northern Kentucky’s postseason run, marking the conclusion of their 2026 campaign. The game took place at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville, with Indiana securing an 8-0 victory by run rule.

Indiana began strong with a two-run home run in the first inning and expanded their lead with four runs in the third. Northern Kentucky threatened to score in the fourth inning by loading the bases, but was unable to capitalize as a flyout ended their opportunity. Indiana added another run in the fourth and finished the game with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Freshman Makaree Chapman started for Northern Kentucky, pitching three innings and allowing six earned runs on seven hits and four walks. Alicia Flores relieved Chapman, throwing 1.2 innings while giving up four hits and two earned runs. Offensively, Northern Kentucky managed three hits out of eighteen at-bats; Kenzie Gulley contributed their only extra-base hit with a double.

The Norse finish their season with an overall record of 26 wins and 25 losses.
