Northern Kentucky University’s baseball team faced Florida State University in the second game of their series on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee. The Norse were defeated 13-3 by the Seminoles, who are ranked 20th nationally.
Florida State established an early lead, scoring three runs in both the first and second innings. They added four more runs in the fifth and finished with three additional runs in the seventh inning. Northern Kentucky scored all three of its runs via home runs: a solo shot by Josh Williams in the second inning and a two-run homer from Sam Bond in the sixth.
Pitcher EJ Miramontes started for Northern Kentucky, pitching four innings and allowing seven earned runs on six hits, with two walks and six strikeouts. Tannis Lange also pitched for the Norse, going 2.1 innings and giving up one run, three walks, one hit, and recording two strikeouts.
Northern Kentucky managed five hits from five different players during the game. Sam Bond homered in his only plate appearance, while Josh Williams went 1-for-2 with his fifth home run of the season.
The Norse will conclude their series against Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
