Northern Kentucky University graduate Charles Sora has been sworn in as the newest officer of the Covington Police Department. The ceremony took place at City Hall, where Mayor Ron Washington administered the oath of office.

Assistant Chief of Police Matthew Winship highlighted that with Charles Sora’s addition, the department now comprises 110 sworn officers. “With Charlie Sora’s swearing in we are now 110 sworn officers,” said Winship. He also noted that Charles joins his brother Jackson, who became a member of the Covington Police Department in 2023.

Winship remarked on the department’s history of employing family members, stating, “Law enforcement continues to be a family tradition in Covington.”

Before joining the police force, Charles Sora graduated from Northern Kentucky University in May with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He is an alumnus of Covington Catholic High School.

Sora will undergo training at the Basic Academy in Richmond for 20 weeks before starting field training in Covington.
