The City of Covington has officially welcomed its newest police officer, Tyler Setter. The swearing-in ceremony took place at City Hall on Monday, July 14, 2025. Mayor Ron Washington administered the oath of office. Family members and leadership from the Covington Police Department were present to witness the event.
Tyler Setter hails from Independence, Kentucky. He graduated in 2024 from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in mathematics.
Following his initial training at the Covington Police Department, Setter will proceed to the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy in Richmond, Kentucky. There he will undergo six months of rigorous training.
Upon completing his academy training, Setter will return to Covington to join the patrol bureau. He will then begin the department’s Field Training program, which involves pairing new officers with experienced field training officers. During this period, he will rotate through all four patrol shifts to gain comprehensive experience policing different areas of Covington at various times.
