Erlanger, Kentucky – Nancy Ann Hicks (nee Schroth), 71, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family. Nancy graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1971 and dedicated 28 years as a bookkeeper at a family business before retiring. She was an extraordinary mom, mother-in-law, Maw Maw, wife, sister, and friend, embodying qualities of strength, resilience, and determination. Nancy valued her relationship with the Lord and her family above all. Known for her warmth and support, she created cherished memories through “Maw Hicks Fridays,” baking with grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, and being a devoted presence at her loved ones’ activities. Her friendly nature earned her the endearing title of the “Mayor of Florence.” Nancy’s unwavering faith sustained her through challenges, and her legacy of love will endure in the hearts of many. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, John Hicks; children Maria Halenkamp, Nathan Halenkamp (Laura), stepchildren Chris, Johnny (Jenelle), Angie (Wayne); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Schroth; daughter Andrea Sipple; son Michael Halenkamp; grandson Nolan Halenkamp; son-in-law Scott Sipple; and sister Susan Jacobs. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, August 6, 2025, and a Mass is scheduled for Thursday morning, August 7, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Florence, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University or St. Elizabeth Hospice in Nancy’s honor.
