Representative Thomas Massie has introduced a new bill, H.R. 3795, known as the Gold Reserve Transparency Act of 2025. This legislation mandates that the Comptroller General conduct and publicly release a comprehensive audit of the United States’ gold reserves. The audit will cover gold stored in locations such as Fort Knox, Kentucky.

“Americans deserve transparency and accountability from the institutions that underpin our currency,” stated Rep. Thomas Massie. He referenced President Trump’s earlier statement, “We’re going to Fort Knox…to make sure the gold is there.” Massie emphasized that this act aims to provide full disclosure for both President Trump and the American public.

The proposed legislation also requires follow-up audits every five years. Additionally, it instructs the Comptroller General to evaluate current measures ensuring the physical safety of these reserves, provide a detailed account of any encumbrances against them, and document transactions over the past 50 years impacting these reserves.

The bill is cosponsored by Representatives Warren Davidson (R-OH), Addison McDowell (R-NC), and Troy Nehls (R-TX).
