Northern Kentucky University infielder Marcus Harrison was named Horizon League Player of the Week after leading the Norse baseball team to a 4-0 record, according to an April 27 announcement from the league. Harrison achieved a batting average above .500 and a slugging percentage over 1.000 during what was described as one of his best collegiate weeks.
The recognition highlights Harrison’s strong performance and continued development as an athlete. His achievements contributed significantly to Northern Kentucky’s success on the field over four games.
“I’m so proud of Marcus,” said Norse head coach Dizzy Peyton. “He has put in so much hard work and time to grow as a young man! He has done a great job of improving himself on and off the field. He is a great teammate and leader in our baseball family! This is a nice nod to recognize his growth as a ball player.”
During the week, Harrison posted a .563 batting average, .667 on-base percentage, and 1.125 slugging percentage with three doubles, two home runs, eleven runs batted in, nine runs scored, and three stolen bases across four games. The redshirt senior recorded two three-hit games: one included seven total bases, five RBI, and five runs in Northern Kentucky’s record-breaking 30-9 win over Oakland; another saw him bat 3-for-5 with two doubles in Sunday’s victory against Oakland.
Nationally for that week, Harrison ranked among the top fifty players in several categories including hits, doubles, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, stolen bases, and total bases. He was seventh nationally for runs scored and fifth for RBI.
Harrison and his teammates are scheduled to play Eastern Kentucky at Bill Aker Baseball Complex on Tuesday.
