Thomas Massie, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, recently shared his perspectives on social media regarding various political issues. Massie, who succeeded Geoff Davis in Congress and holds a degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has been vocal about his views on state policies and federal legislation.

On June 9, 2025, Massie criticized California’s policies in a tweet. He stated: “The BBB rewards Newsom‘s failed policies with a multi-billion $ gift to California and sanctuary cities in the form of $40k SALT deductions.” He further commented on recent riots as reminders that Republicans in California and New York had compromised Trump’s border security agenda by reversing the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act policy.

Later that day, he addressed immigration laws in another post. On June 9, 2025, he tweeted: “If you enter this country illegally, you broke the law and you should be deported.” He emphasized that enforcing these laws should not lead to financial ruin for the country and posed a question about consensus on these points.

On June 10, 2025, Massie commented on legislative procedures within the House of Representatives. Referring to an incident involving Speaker Johnson, he tweeted: “Nancy Pelosi once said the House needed to vote for a bill to find out what was in it.” He noted Speaker Johnson’s decision to utilize the Rules Committee to alter the text of significant legislation after it had already been voted upon.

Massie’s remarks reflect ongoing debates surrounding state policies, immigration enforcement costs, and legislative transparency within Congress.
