Judy Mae Butcher, who was a treasured member of her family and community, peacefully passed away on July 14, 2025, in Edgewood, Kentucky, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on May 4, 1953, in Covington, Kentucky, Judy led a life filled with joy, creating lasting memories with those she held dear.

Judy held a distinguished career, eventually retiring from Duke Energy as a control operator. She then redirected her focus to the Burlington Fire Department, where she selflessly served as an EMT, leaving an indelible impact on the lives of many in her community.

Known for her unique “Judy-isms,” a selection of sayings that brought happiness and laughter to all who knew her, Judy was married to her dedicated husband, Michael Butcher, on December 26, 1970. Together, they raised a family that became the heart of her world, and she took immense pride in her roles as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Judy found pleasure in a variety of hobbies throughout her life. From riding motorcycles to embarking on trips in her beloved 1999 Corvette, her adventurous spirit was evident. She also enjoyed traveling, crafting, and challenging her mind with Sudoku puzzles and crosswords.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Butcher; sons Christopher (Ruby) Butcher and Joshua (Jami) Butcher; grandchildren Tyler (Catherine) Christian, Samantha (Tim) Giovenetti, Olivia Butcher, Bryce Butcher, Aly Butcher, and Milee Butcher; sisters Sheila (Harry Earl) Utley, Sandy (Charlie) Courtney, and Debbie (Pete) Mitchell; along with numerous other family members and friends who held her close to their hearts.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, Fred Mac Garland; her mother, Betty June Garland (nee Wilson); and her brother, Timothy Fred Garland.

A visitation will be held on July 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at Newcomer Funeral Home in Erlanger, Kentucky. Burial will take place at Burlington Cemetery, where she will be remembered not only for her professional achievements and hobbies but also for her unwavering love for her family and community.
