John Thomas Doubrava, aged 77, of Burlington, KY, departed peacefully on December 7, 2025, exactly two years following his beloved wife Donna’s passing, celebrating their remarkable 51-year marriage.
Born on May 1, 1948, in Cleveland, OH, John was the son of Charles and Lillian Doubrava. His upbringing instilled in him strong principles of faith, diligence, and commitment, traits he embodied throughout his life. Admired for his strength, hard work, and his unwavering devotion to his church and community, John was a guiding light to many, leading with integrity and always prioritizing the well-being of others.
John completed his education at Riverside High School in Dearborn Heights, MI, and pursued a degree in Law Enforcement from Detroit College of Business, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Accounting. His distinguished career spanned 33 years as a Criminal Investigator for the IRS, showcasing dedication and a steadfast moral compass. Post-retirement, he continued his legacy of service as the Business Finance Director at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Burlington, KY.
In his moments of leisure, John found joy in activities he cherished, whether it be golfing, watching NASCAR, grilling, or relishing precious time with his granddaughters and family. He and Donna shared a love for fine dining and treasured time spent in each other’s company, fostering a life filled with profound connections.
A devout parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, John actively engaged in community service through various organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Police Boone County Lodge #46.
In addition to his beloved wife, John was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Lou and Bernadine Sekeres, and brother-in-law Martin Sekeres. He is survived by his sons: Jeffrey, Tom, and Charles; his sister Charlotte Girardot; granddaughters MacKenzie Emerson and Kylie Doubrava; and great-grandson Owen Emerson.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10AM-11AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Memorial contributions may be directed to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
