Joe Louis Swango, aged 95, of Anderson Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. Born on February 20, 1930, in Gallatin County, Kentucky, to Curtis Swango and Ethel Brown Swango, Joe’s life was marked by a steadfast commitment to service and devotion, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

As a proud U.S. Army veteran, Joe embodied dedication and loyalty not only to his country but also to his community. An esteemed member of Florence Christian Church and a participant in the former Florence, Kentucky Masonic Lodge, Joe was known for his unwavering support and involvement. His passion for the University of Kentucky was evident in his loyal fandom, and he found peace and joy in nature through camping adventures shared with loved ones.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma, in 2016, as well as his brothers, Marvin and Harvey Swango. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Swango-Holtmann (Steven), granddaughters Michelle Cox (Shawn) and Sarah Holtmann, and great-grandchildren Damir Holtmann, Justice Holtmann, Tyler Cox, Ava Cox, Kayla Cox, and Madeline Cox. Joe’s memory will be cherished by numerous nieces and nephews who held him in high regard.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joe’s remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Stith Funeral Home, located at 7500 US 42, Florence, KY 41042. A Masonic Service will commence at 12:45 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Warsaw Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Queen City Hospice at 4605 Duke Dr., #200, Mason, OH 45040 are welcomed to honor Joe’s generosity and kindness. Online condolences can be shared at www.stithfuneralhome.com, as we unite to celebrate and honor the life of a truly exceptional man.
