Union, Kentucky – James A. “Jim” Glatthaar, aged 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 25, 2025. Born on April 12, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim led a dedicated life focused on his family, faith, and professional endeavors.
Jim shared thirty-two years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gelaine Glatthaar, whom he lovingly supported. As a devoted husband and father, he left a lasting impact on his five daughters: Sharon Zalac (Don), Laura Glatthaar, Lisa Glatthaar, Suzanne Glatthaar, Krista Glatthaar, and stepdaughter Kristin Lippert (Dennie Rowell). Jim was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Kevin, Kelsey, Austin, Bradley, Dominic, Evan, Patrick, Julianna, Gabriel, Zachary, Griffin, and Grady. He also leaves behind his cherished twin sister, Janice Glatthaar, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jim in death were his first wife, Gail Glatthaar, with whom he shared thirty-one loving years of marriage, his sister Joan Stoner and her husband Vince, and his brothers Don Glatthaar (survived by Kitty) and Tom Glatthaar (survived by Martha).
A devout member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Jim also found success as the owner of a LaRosa’s restaurant franchise and as a Certified Public Accountant. In his leisure time, he found solace in playing golf, cards, and enjoying family moments at their summer home on the Ohio River, creating lasting memories filled with laughter.
To commemorate Jim’s life, a visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stith Funeral Home in Florence, KY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Union, KY.
Jim will find his final resting place beside his family at St. Joseph New Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio, in a private ceremony at a later date.
In memory of Jim, memorial contributions can be made to Elder High School, American Cancer Society, Chair Force 1 (ALS), or Florence Baptist Church.
Jim’s legacy of love, generosity, and familial devotion will continue to shine through those whose lives were touched by his presence.
