The House of Representatives has passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA), a bill that requires the Attorney General to release all documents and records held by the Department of Justice relating to Jeffrey Epstein. The measure was approved with a vote of 427-1 after Representative Thomas Massie gathered 218 signatures on a discharge petition, bringing the legislation to the House floor.
“Today’s overwhelming vote in the House of Representatives to release the Epstein files is a major victory not only for the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse, but for victims of sexual abuse throughout the country,” said Rep. Thomas Massie. “EFTA’s passage brings Epstein’s victims one step closer to receiving justice and Americans one step closer to receiving transparency.”
Massie continued, “The Epstein Files Transparency Act now moves to the Senate. The Senate should not add an amendment to EFTA to avoid disclosing those rich and powerful men who have evaded justice for so many years. Senators should quickly send the House-passed bill to the President for his signature.”
The bill was introduced by Representatives Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky’s 4th district, and Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California. President Trump has indicated he will sign the legislation if it reaches his desk.
Prior to the vote, Massie, Khanna, and Marjorie Taylor Greene held a press conference at the Capitol with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse.
Representative Thomas Massie has served in Congress since 2012 after replacing Geoff Davis as representative for Kentucky’s 4th district. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in local government roles in Kentucky and holds a degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
