The Florence Police Department has opened applications for its Teen Academy, a program aimed at high school students interested in law enforcement. The five-week academy is scheduled to take place from October 22 through November 19, with sessions held each Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the department’s headquarters on Ewing Boulevard.
The program is designed for students in grades 9 through 12 and offers hands-on experiences covering various aspects of police work. Topics include DUI enforcement, crash reconstruction, crime scene investigation, response to resistance, drone operation, hostage negotiation, K-9 demonstration, and SWAT team operations.
“The Florence Police Department Teen Academy is an excellent opportunity for students to gain insight into law enforcement, develop leadership skills, and engage with officers in a safe and educational environment,” according to the department.
Space in the academy is limited and early registration is encouraged. Interested students or parents can contact the Florence Police Department by phone or email for more information.
