Edna Mae Connett, aged 90, of Fort Thomas, passed away peacefully in her home on December 14, 2025. Known for her green thumb, passion for bowling, catering expertise, and love for family and friends, Edna was a cherished member of her community. She welcomed others into her home, enjoyed cheering on the Bengals and Reds, and treasured time spent on her front porch swing.
A graduate of Dayton High School, Edna’s culinary journey began when she and her husband acquired Southern Food Service in Dayton, KY, eventually opening the Westside Kitchen Restaurant in Newport with her mother. Her dedication to showcasing her culinary talents continued at BB Riverboats, where she delighted guests with exquisite dining experiences.
Born on February 21, 1935, in Newport, Kentucky, to Homer and Mary Catherine Harmon, Edna was preceded in death by her husband Irvine Wendell Connett, sons Glen, Douglas, and Brian, and sister Garnett Zigler. She is survived by her sons Ronnie and Timothy (Amy) Connett, daughter-in-law Jody Connett, grandchildren Tyler, Matthew, Timothy, and Scott, and great-grandchildren Crew, Rory, Wellow, and Wendy Connett.
