Florence, KY – Dola Jean Jackson, 85, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. Born on March 22, 1940, in Hazard, KY, Dola was the cherished daughter of the late Andy and Orpha Tomlin.

Dedicated to education for 35 years, Dola’s career began as a teacher and later as a guidance counselor, where she impacted numerous lives with her kindness, wisdom, and dedication to her students. Even after retiring, she continued to share her love for teaching by educating inmates within the prison system, demonstrating her commitment to helping others.

An expressive soul, Dola found joy in writing stories, especially children’s tales that inspired her younger family members. She also took pride in publishing the monthly newsletter for her Senior Center, where she was an engaged community member.

A talented quilter, Dola created beautiful pieces of art and shared a special bond with her dog, Chug. However, her true happiness came from spending time with her family, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, love, and positivity.

Preceded in death by her son Byron Jackson and sisters Wanda Hall and Zola Tomlin, Dola is survived by her son Andrew Jackson, daughter Anna Phillips, brother Raymond Tomlin, sisters Nancy Schrock and Lovell McFadden, along with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held by the family to honor Dola’s memory. Condolences may be shared on Facebook or SerenityFuneralCare.com.
