The City of Covington is approaching the final phase of its project to convert Scott and Greenup streets from one-way to two-way traffic between 12th and 20th streets. Starting Monday, September 29, contractor Riegler Blacktop will begin milling and paving work, beginning with Greenup Street before moving on to Scott Street.

This stage represents the last part of a multi-phase effort aimed at calming traffic, improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and reducing cut-through traffic in the Eastside, Helentown, Austinburg, and Wallace Woods neighborhoods.

As part of this transition, some traffic signals along the corridor are being replaced with stop signs. New signage is being installed, and existing signals will flash red to reinforce the new two-way pattern. Message boards will also be placed along the route to inform drivers about these changes.

Additionally, the project includes extending the KY-17 designation westward to Madison Avenue. This change will transfer ownership of that section of roadway from the City of Covington to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The City has asked drivers to pay attention to new signage and exercise extra caution as these changes are implemented.
