City Hall in Covington, Kentucky, will be closed on Thursday, June 19, to observe the Juneteenth holiday. The offices located at 20 W. Pike St. are scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 20.

Juneteenth, also known as “Freedom Day” or “Juneteenth Independence Day,” is celebrated by many African Americans as it marks the end of slavery in the United States.

In 2022, the Covington Board of Commissioners officially recognized Juneteenth as a City holiday.
