Covington announces events lineup for Labor Day weekend

This Labor Day weekend, Covington will host a variety of events for residents and visitors. The city’s schedule includes live music, food festivals, art shows, and activities suitable for families.

On Thursday, August 28, Coppin’s Restaurant and Bar at Hotel Covington will hold a Summer Wine Dinner from 7 to 9 p.m., offering four courses paired with wines. Braxton Brewing Company will feature Music Bingo on its rooftop at 7 p.m., while Covington Plaza hosts the Nightlight Outdoor Movie Series screening “Miss Congeniality” with general admission beginning at 7 p.m. Galaxie will present Disco Bingo at 7:30 p.m. followed by karaoke at 9 p.m., with featured drinks available.

Friday’s lineup includes Bingo Night with Rescue Kittens for ages 16 and up at Purrfect Day Cat Cafe. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and offers bingo in the cat lounge, time to interact with kittens, cocktail specials for those over 21, and prizes for winners. Braxton Brewing Company continues its Party on the Patio series starting at 5 p.m., while Juniper’s welcomes the Chris Comer Trio to perform at 8 p.m.

Saturday features the Covington Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Washington Street regardless of weather conditions. At Devou Park, the Parks & Recreation Department is organizing a guided morning walk beginning at the Devou Overlook at 10 a.m., focusing on the park’s history and its influence on Covington’s development. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Other Saturday events include Sunset Rooftop DJ Sessions hosted by Galaxie at Braxton Brewing Company starting at 7 p.m., Creative House of Art & Design’s DRINK DRAW & DRAG event from 7 to 10 p.m.—which features drag performances, painting sessions, and a complimentary charcuterie board—and Kentucky Symphony Orchestra’s Primitive Pop concert from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Devou Park Band Shell. Juniper’s will also host The Nomads Trio beginning at 8 p.m.

Sunday offers Sashay Parlay—a Cincinnati football-themed drag brunch—at Covington Yard; doors open at 10 a.m., with the show starting an hour later. Tickets include one signature cocktail and access to an all-you-can-enjoy breakfast pizza bar.

The weekend concludes with the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks display scheduled for Sunday night starting at 9 p.m.; information about road closures, parking, and safety can be found online.
