Thomas Massie, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, has been active on social media sharing his perspectives on recent legislative and political issues. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Massie has a background in engineering with a degree from MIT.
On June 7, 2025, Massie addressed concerns about fiscal policy via Twitter. He stated that “The biggest tax will be when you must monetize the debt to pay for the BBB. The resulting inflation will substantially harm poor and middle class families.” He urged for reconsideration of certain financial measures by advising against what he termed as the “$300b SALT bribe” to New York and California millionaires.
Later that day, Massie continued his critique of fiscal policies by highlighting changes to tax regulations. In another tweet, he mentioned “2017 TCJA reduced the SALT cap to $10k, but the 2025 BBB raises it to $40k!” He argued this adjustment represents a significant financial transfer from middle-class citizens in red states to wealthier individuals in blue states and suggested it was orchestrated to gain votes from Republican representatives in New York and California.
On June 8, 2025, Massie shifted focus towards public safety and immigration policies. He tweeted his stance on violence and border security: “I condemn the violence in LA, I support a strong border, and agree strongly with deporting criminals.” This statement reflects his firm position on maintaining law order and regulating immigration.
Massie’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) obtained in 1993. Before entering Congress, he served as Lewis County Judge Executive after working in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
