The City of Covington has issued two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to attract developers for Blocks C and F in the Covington Central Riverfront neighborhood. This step marks a new phase in the city’s ongoing riverfront redevelopment efforts.
Recent agreements with Silverman & Co., Drees Homes, and Funke Real Estate Group have resulted in plans for more than 324 housing units and about 17,000 square feet of commercial space in the area.
John Sadosky, Assistant Director of Economic Development, said, “We’re not just looking for a savvy development proposal. We’re looking for a partner who understands the vision behind what we’re trying to accomplish: restoring the street grid, creating connectivity, encouraging creative use of materials, and embracing bold design.”
Proposals will be reviewed based on how well they align with site objectives, the experience of the development team, architectural compatibility with nearby neighborhoods, innovative parking solutions, and whether commercial tenants are already secured when relevant.
Block C is about 0.97 acres (42,400 square feet) and is intended for mixed residential and retail uses with structured parking. It is located west of Sanders Development Group’s planned townhomes and mixed-use building and north of Funke Real Estate Group’s planned homes and corner buildings.
Block F covers roughly 1.52 acres (66,100 square feet), also designated for residential and retail development with structured parking. It sits west of Silverman’s planned mixed-use project and north of Drees Homes’ upcoming townhomes.
Developers interested in submitting proposals must do so by December 12, 2025. The RFP documents are available through the City’s Bonfire procurement portal. A free Bonfire account is required to access these materials.
