Covington – Charles Christopher “Chris” Clenney, 76, of Covington, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 8th, 2026. Born on May 12th, 1949, in Covington, he was the cherished son of the late Charles and Mary Clenney.

A proud 1967 graduate of Holmes High School, Chris held dear the friendships and memories from his school days, fostering lasting connections over the years. He continued his pursuit of knowledge at the University of Kentucky, achieving his bachelor’s degree in 1971. Fondly recalling his time in Lexington with his cousin and best friend Donnie Baker and their college roommates, Chris often shared vibrant tales from his college adventures.

Chris discovered immense fulfillment in guiding young athletes through coaching youth football with the Bengal Tigers and various northern Kentucky teams. His dedication to coaching extended far beyond the years his sons participated, reflecting his passion for nurturing and motivating young players within the community.

Renowned for his culinary prowess, Chris derived joy from collecting recipes and crafting meals tailored to suit the individual tastes of each family member. He took great pride in uniting loved ones around the dining table, fostering cherished moments through his culinary expertise and generous spirit.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Clenney, Tyrone Clenney, and his sister, Patricia Fleckenstein. He is survived by his loving children – Michael (Charlynn) Ballinger, Charles (Seiko) Clenney, and Megan (Brandon) Herald. Cherishing his six dear grandchildren – Parker, Brennen, Chloe, Riley, Raigan, and Callan – Chris instilled in them his love, kindness, and commitment to family, leaving a lasting legacy.

A Celebration of Life honoring Chris will be held on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Pride Park Community Center, located at 5606 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Northern Kentucky Youth Football League in memory of Chris Clenney, directed to Northern Kentucky Youth Football League at 3905 Lloyd Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018.

Chris will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to nurturing others—a legacy that will endure in the lives of those he touched.
