Carmella Meconio, aged 94, peacefully passed away on December 15, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on June 15, 1931, to Giovanni and Carmela Meconio (née Greco), Carmella was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati. She worked as a typist and switchboard operator for General Electric, spending most of her adult life in Cincinnati.
Known for her love of hosting, Carmella often gathered friends and neighbors, ensuring everyone felt welcome and comfortable in her home. Despite her impressive independence, she lived on her own until two years ago when her niece, Sandy, devotedly took over her care.
Carmella’s greatest joy lay within her role in her family, where her love for her nieces, nephews, and extended family knew no bounds. She adored her position as an aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and great-great-great-aunt.
Preceding her in death were her sister, Catherine Bene, her brother, Marco Meconio, brother-in-law Ray Bene, and great-nephew Stephen Hancock. Carmella is survived by nine nieces and nephews, fifteen great-nieces and nephews, twenty great-great-nieces and nephews, and three great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
In a testament to Carmella’s spirit, funeral attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas sweaters to the visitation on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, Kentucky. A Catholic Blessing will follow at noon, with burial at St. Stephen Cemetery.
Memorial donations in honor of Carmella Meconio may be directed to Notre Dame Girls High School.
